Autodesk Maya, Substance Painter, Photoshop
Description
This cartoon beagle was my first start-to-end attempt at making a quadruped. I've primarily modeled objects and props
that were mechanical or inanimate. As this was my first attempt with modeling something alive, I went for a cartoon
approach as it let me be more creative in the proportions and texturing. This project was also my first dive into Substance
Painter and it was a great way to get the look I wanted with not a lot of hassle. I finalized everything using Photoshop
where I needed some touch ups.
I am happy with the final result as it is my first high-quality model that is fully UV'd and textured. Having this under
my belt will give me a good reference point for what I can accomplish and the level of quality I want to strive for with
all future models I create.
Workflow
• Collect references for the model
• Import side, top, and front profiles into Maya
• Model the beagle using the references
• UV the model for Substance Painter
• Import into Substance Painter for texturing
• Finalize any texturing with Photoshop
